
Andrew Kirby ran a three day Ash Splint Basketry workshop for OB in June 2015. The first day was spent learning how to prepare splints from an ash log using a unique technique where the log is pounded with a heavy hammer; the second involved knife work and using a shave horse to hone the splints to the required size and shape before finally weaving them into a basket.
