WOVEN LAMPSHADES with MOLLIE McMILLEN
Banish those winter blues and bring in the light! Discover how to weave your own lampshade in this creative, hands-on full day workshop.
You’ll be working with a variety of materials to create your design including willow, rush, and cattails, The uprights will be scallomed onto a lampshade frame and then using a variety of weaves to create pattern and structure. Two frame sizes—15 cm and 20 cm—will be available to choose from, allowing each person to create a unique piece that fits their space, with plenty of flexibility for personal experimentation.
About Mollie McMillen:
Mollie is a professional Basketmaker, bark and plant weaver, with a particular interest in land stewardship, as well as preserving and carrying forward traditional weaving techniques. Drawn to woodlands, Mollie worked as a bushcraft instructor, which propelled her into weaving with tree bark, and well as beginning her discovery of the profound significance of plants and their incredible versatility.

Notes: all materials included, but please bring your tools if you have them, especially your own knife and knee protector for scalloming if you can. If you have some plant material you would like to incorporate feel free to bring that too.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be in copious supply, but please bring a packed lunch.
