CELTIC KNOT ROPE TRIVETS AND BASKETS WITH LAURENCE KNOOP
Workshop fee: £70 per person. Suitable for all levels.
Open to members of Oxfordshire Basketmakers. Laurence Knoop will be leading a workshop on the use of knot patterns to create trivets and baskets, working with flax rope. The morning will be spent learning to make a rope trivet (or mat), using a traditional knot pattern, and incorporating the technique of splicing using a Swedish fid. In the afternoon you will build on the patterns and methods used for the trivet to make a small round rope basket. Finished dimensions: trivet – 24cm diameter; basket – 14cm diameter.
Extra materials: Laurence will bring along extra rope if you would like to make another basket or trivet at home afterwards, it will be £8 per hank payable to him on the day in cash/card. You can also buy the Swedish fid you use for £8 too.
10am-4.30pm, with 30 minutes for lunch.
